Morning has broken like the first morning, blackbird has spoken like the first bird. Praise for the singing, praise for the morning, praise for them springing fresh from the word. 

Sweet the rain's new fall, sunlit from heaven, like the first dewfall on the first grass. Praise for the sweetness of the wet garden, spring in completeness where her feet pass.

Farjeons Texte sind geprägt von einer sanften, wunderbaren Sicht auf die Welt, tiefer moralischer Wärme, ohne zu belehren, poetischer Sprache und rhythmischem Erzählen, Feier der Kindheit, Natur und Freundlichkeit. Sie ist bis heute eine geschätzte Figur der englischen Kinderliteratur. Der Eleanor-Farjeon-Preis, 1966 zu ihren Ehren gegründet, wird jährlich für besondere Verdienste um Kinderliteratur verliehen.
